Juvéderm® is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA). HA occurs naturally in our skin and provides moisture, plumpness, firmness and suppleness to the skin. Youthful skin has plenty of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. As we age, the ability of the body to produce new hyaluronic acid decreases. The reduction of HA contributes to loss of contour and volume in the face, which leads to wrinkles and unwanted folds. This occurs most often in the cheeks, around the mouth and in the laugh lines (nasolabial folds).1

Add Volume

Juvéderm® family of fillers offers a wonderful way to add volume back to areas that have begun to show age. Juvéderm® fillers soften facial wrinkles and lines and help to restore volume, which results in a more youthful appearance. Research has shown that the results are long lasting. Depending on the Juvéderm® filler that Dr. Melissa thinks is best for you, and the area injected, results typically last from 9-18 months.

Does the Juvéderm® treatment hurt?

Juvéderm® is made with lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable experience during and after your treatment. Some areas are more sensitive than others, for instance many clients believe lips are slightly more painful than other places. Dr. Melissa has many methods at her disposal to make these procedures as comfortable as possible.

How long does Juvéderm® last?

Juvéderm® is expected to last about 9-18 months, sometimes even longer, depending on type of filler chosen and where in the face it is injected.

What should I do to prepare for my Juvéderm® treatment?

Dr. Melissa will ask you to discontinue the use of aspirin (if not specifically prescribed by your doctor) and ibuprofen for 7 days before your appointment, in order to minimize the risk of bruising. There are other blood thinning medicines that Dr. Melissa will want to know about before treatment, and the use of these may need to be limited as well. Avoid drinking alcohol the night before your treatment. Schedule your Juvéderm® treatment at least 2 weeks prior to any big social events.

What should I do after my Juvéderm® treatment?

Avoid touching, massaging, or putting pressure on the treated areas. Avoid heavy exercise and extremes of hot and cold for 24 hours. Use of ice packs can help with any swelling or bruising that may occur. Dr. Melissa will give you detailed post care instructions and answer any questions you may have.
